Sweetwater Creek State Park
Sweetwater Creek State Park is a 2,500-acre conservation area located
in Lithia Springs, Georgia, just outside Atlanta. Completed
in the spring of 2006, the 8,000-square-foot Visitor’s Center and
Museum--which achieved LEED Platinum certification--serves as a starting point for explorations of the park.
The building incorporates a number of resource-conserving features including
Clivus Multrum composting toilets, greywater irrigation, a rainwater
harvesting system, a “green” roof, and various energy-saving
technologies. The visitor center was a “Top Pick” at
the 2004 AIA Green Design Showcase.
