Cape Jourimain Nature Centre
Cape Jourimain Nature Centre, located in New Brunswick, is the
last stop on the highway to the Confederation Bridge, which connects
to Prince Edward Island.
Since there are hundreds of visitors daily during the tourist
season, innovative ways are needed to accommodate Centre visitors
and protect surrounding habitats. Rainwater is collected and
used for washing hands, watering plants, and moistening the Clivus
composting toilet systems. Greywater from the kitchen, lavatories,
and maintenance sink is passed through a bio-filter before being returned to the surrounding landscape. End-products from the Centre’s nine composting systems are used as on-site fertilizers.
